Delivery Day!

Since Sara is temporarily unavailable (contractions less than 3 min. apart), I have hijacked her blog in order to keep you updated. But, as a man, I am physically incapable of writing all types of cutesy-ness. This will be a man's blog: simple, short, bare-bones details.
5:?? AM: awoke to contractions
5:30 AM: began timing the contractions
6:00 AM: Tyson picked up his sister to stay with Lawson
6:10 AM: To the Hospital! (we even ran a couple stop signs and 1.5 red lights)
6:25 AM: Admitted
6:45 AM: enter nurses-let's get this started!
7:00 AM: fully effaced, 4 cm dilated-but the nurse said Sara's cervix is "very stretchy" (please don't tell Sara that I said that)
8:00 AM: the nurses have been in and out several times (Sara has what doctors call "wimpy veins" and it took them several attempts and about 20 min. to get an i.v. going) Contractions are a little closer together now
8:30 AM: Still waiting for that epidural
8:31 AM: anesthesiologist just came in after the last edit
9:00 AM: Sara is numb!
10:45 AM: I'm sure everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting for more info. There hasn't been much change in the last hour or so. The contractions are still 2-4 minutes apart and Sara has dilated to 6 cm.
11:15 AM: The contractions were getting worse, so they gave Sara some more medication. The fetal heart rate monitor wasn't working very well, so they attached one directly to the baby's head. While doing that, they discovered that Sara is now at 9 cm. We're getting close! The baby still needs to come down a little bit.
11:20 AM: Sara has been feeling a lot more pressure the last few minutes. The nurse came in and it looks like we're going to start pushing as soon as her dr. gets here. I'll do my best to keep posting updates.
11:35 AM: BABY BORN! Sara pushed 4 or 5 times in about an 8-minute span and the baby was born. She weighs 7 lbs. 6 oz. and is 18.5 inches long. She had the cord wrapped around her neck 3 times, which caused some minor problems, including low blood volume. I (Tyson) went with the baby to the NICU and watched the staff (about 6 or 7 in all) work on our baby. Everything seems to be going well and, unless something else happens, we'll be moving her to the well baby unit soon.
