Salmon River Lodge

About a month ago my family and I went with my parents and siblings to visit my brother, Tyler at his place of employment. He's been working as a caretaker at the Salmon River Lodge for a couple of months. It's on the Salmon River about 4 hours from Idaho Falls. He's been up there by himself, so I think it was nice for him to have visitors! We had to call Tyler when we got there from the walkie talkie that was in the box on the sign because we had to cross the RIVER to get to the lodge and he had the ROW BOAT on the other side of the river. That's right, he was going to row us one by one across the river with all of our stuff (there were 13 of us!)

This is the view from the road as we came in.

Tyler didn't end up needing to row us because there were some really nice guys that had some motor boats on the shore who took us all over. Then Tyler had to take us each about 1/2 a mile to the lodge on this Rhino.

It was beautiful there to say the least.

A view of the lodge from the river.

The lodge from behind.

We stayed in a cabin next to the lodge that had 4 separate rooms with 4 beds each.

Devin and Mack.

We stayed for 2 nights and each took turns cooking a meal. Devin and Missy did our first breakfast in the lodge.

The wildlife in the lodge!

There isn't any phone service but there sure was internet service and Tyson took advantage of that with his laptop. :)

Devin, Dad, and Mack.

We ate our meals out on the deck of the lodge.
Missy, Dad w/ Mack, Mom w/ Makayla (the babies are about 2 weeks apart).

Bill (Missy's brother) and his wife Bridgette.

The boys went fishing and caught a few. It was Lawson's first time.

Devin, Tyson, and Lawson fishing from the dock (a view from the deck at the lodge).

The zoom on my camera isn't the greatest.

Father and son time.

This deer liked to hang around. He would let you get pretty close and then he would run away. He likes to dig holes in the gravel that Tyler has to keep filled. He gets pretty aggrevated with this little deer.

We spent our days playing in the river, fishing, rafting, snorkeling, and tubing.

My dad made a spear and tried catching fish with it! No such luck!

Little Mack getting his feet wet.

Rafting/tubing down the little section of rapids by the lodge.

After getting out of the rapids, which were a little scary, we were too tired to row anymore so Abbie, who was already in the river, pulled us to the shore. :)

Dad and Landon went down on the big huge tube and lived to tell the tale.

Abbie enjoyed herself finding freshwater mussels. I didn't know there was such a thing. She became quite the expert mussel-finder and could find a bunch in a matter of minutes.

Bill and Tyler with their lot of mussels. Apparently, you eat them. I didn't get the pleasure. :)

We saw tons of mountain sheep on our way to and from the lodge.

After getting rowed back over (the nice guys were gone), we were on our way back home. It was a really enjoyable weekend. I'm glad Tyler was able to host us.

What a fun trip! I bet Lawson loved fishing! We haven't ever taken Aiden but I know he would love it!
