More Texas Visitors, Meeting Molly, & Texas State Fair

My first niece was born the beginning of September! I got to meet her finally this past weekend. She is so tiny and precious! Her name is Molly.

My brother, Devin, and his wife Missy came to visit for a few days. Devin is going to Dental School in Omaha at Creighton and was having his fall break so they came to see us! It was so fun to have them stay with us.

Lucky for us the fair was in Dallas while Devin and Missy were here! Tuesdays you could get in for $3 a person (instead of $15!!) with a can of Dr. Pepper, which was "invented" in Waco, just an hour south of us! :) We parked at Tyson's work for $3 and took the train instead of paying $15 for parking. We are so frugal! ;)

I've only been to the Blackfoot, Idaho fair so this was an eye-opener for me! :) There was so much to do and see. We only got to about an 1/8th of the way through it. It was a fun day.

The Food

I was excited to try the fried food that is famous at the fair. There's a contest each year for the best fried food. This year fried frito pie won. I didn't try it but we did try fried pizza, cookie dough, peanut butter, jelly, and banana sandwich, and cheesecake. My favorite was the sandwich! Yum!!

We were sitting there eating and Devin came over with this giant pickle! Ha ha!

We went and saw these cows. They were just tied to a fence thing and that's it. No fence around them or anything. It was interesting. Makayla got close.

We did the petting zoo. There were so many different types of animals. It was great. Mack and Makayla loved the goats.

There was a giraffe.

I've never been this close to one before.

It would eat out of your hand too.

This zebra was born just a couple of days before we were there. It was so cute and tiny. I'm a girl- I like cute tiny things. :)

Then there was the GIANT pig! His face is on the right side. I couldn't tell at first. He was like 1500 pounds or something ridiculous like that.

Devin and Missy rode a crazy flip-you-upside-down-ride. My kids giggled as they watched them being flung about.

Then there was this guy. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it. It's an optical illusion of some sort. Tyson tried to explain it to me. Crazy is all I have to say.

Mack and Makayla are 2 weeks apart in age. They had their struggles during the visit. Makayla is aggressive and Mack is not. :) She likes to push and Mack would cry. He was scared of her most of the time.

But hugged it out in the end.
